Mare a Mare Southfrom €495 
Self-guided walking - 6 days  



The Mare a Mare South path is a distinct favourite, allowing you to enjoy all the contrasts and colours of the island. Starting from the gulf of Porto Vecchio on the east coast, the trail rises up through the mountains of the Alta Rocca to arrive in Propriano on the west coast. With five days of easy to moderate walking you will discover the richness of the extreme south.


Programme

Day 1
Your holiday starts at your hotel in Porto Vecchio. Time to check into your hotel and explore the town.

Day 2
A walk up to the Cartalavonu plateau, via the villages of Alzu di Gallina and Ospedale. Breathtaking views over the gulf of Porto Vecchio, considered as the most beautiful gulf in Corsica.
14km, 7h00, +1000m.

Day 3
A walk to Levie, via the Lake Ospedale: remarkable views over Valincu gulf, the Alta Rocca villages and the pink granite pinaccles of Bavella. The trail leads through chestnut and oak forests and olive groves.
11km, 5h00, +510m, -920m.

Day 4
A walk to Serra di Scopamena, passing the Cucuruzzu and Capula archaeological sites, you walk past the church of Quenza as well as shepherds' cabins and an old chestnut mill.
17km, 5h30, +760m, -520m.

Day 5
A walk to the beautiful village of Ste Lucie de Tallano, famous for bearing rare Corsite rocks. The walk leads you through the ruins at Mamma where you can also see the old mill.
10 km, 5h00, +400m, -800m.

Day 6
On the road to Propriano you have the opportunity to visit the St-Jean-Baptiste church, meditate by the grave of Colomba or stop at the Baracci natural spas for a swim. A taxi transfer to Propriano is scheduled at 3pm to avoid asphalt walking.
10km, 5h00, +700m, -750m.

The walks are on good footpaths and trails, the terrain is varied but often rocky. You need to be used to walking and take regular exercise to enjoy this holiday.

Carrying
You need to carry a small day sack only with a water bottle, camera, picnic and wind jacket. The main luggage will be transported by vehicle between the different accommodations. It is also important to consider that it may be necessary to carry your bags short distances at the start or end of your holiday. You will need the appropriate luggage (please contact us with any questions).
Price includes
Half board accommodation (evening meal is not included on day 1), internal transfers, baggage transfers between hotels, the dossier containing your maps, route notes and all necessary details needed for your holiday.
Price does not include
Transfer to Porto Vecchio on day 1, unscheduled transfers, evening meal on day 1, drinks, picnics, extra activities, holiday insurance, and travel.
