Our guided trips

We are proud to have two guided trips that we run in conjunction with KE Adventure Travel. KE is based in the Lake District and is the leading UK mountain travel company. The groups are made up mainly of walkers from the UK, with occasionally people coming from further afield. The guides for these trips are English speaking. ‘GR20 to the Mediterranean’ is a moderate level walking holiday. It stays in some comfortable hotels and offers some excellent walking. It starts out from a ski hotel up on the rugged GR20 and finishes up on the beautiful west coast. ‘The real GR20 tough version’ has been running for several years now and still proves very popular. It is the hardest version of the GR that we run. It is considered the full version, starting at Bavella and heading north finishing in Calanzana. It takes in extra summits along the way and the wonderful ‘Cirque de cascasdes’

We have a small selection of french walking holidays, this means your fellow walkers will be French..... eh oui! It’sa great opportunity to practice your language skills , to slide into another rhythm, a savoir faire tranquille, the odd siesta, evening aperitif, charcuterie, plenty of good walking and talking, an unforgettable experience. We have marked these guided holidays with ‘french groups’

In our opinion, a good guide is someone who likes people. Someone who is good company and a real pleasure to be around, without being invasive and overbearing. A good guide has an infectious passion and knowledge of the outdoors and will provide an insight into the areas you travel through. A lot of companies employ Tour Leaders to ensure the smooth running of your trip. Generally, these are smart, well organised, versatile, diplomatic and extremely ressourceful people . Tour leaders undergo a rigourous selection and very thorough inhouse training

However, at Corsica Aventure it is our principle to employ guides who are mountain qualified. The guides may well have gone through the United Kingdom system, where they are trained and assessed by the mountain leader training board. The first award is the MLTB summer qualification which is followed by the MLTB winter qualification. The next step up is the IML, the International Mountain Leader. The IML qualification ensures that your guide has not only a huge amount of personal experience in the mountains but also sound quality training that will ensure the maximum safety. Guides are trained to be able to navigate in harsh, remote, unpredictable areas in safety and confidence.

The IML qualification is recognised and accepted outside of the country of origin, it is a qualification that is respected internationally. IML's operate all over the world in a whole range of adventure travel and expeditions. If your guide is French or Corsican he/she will have undergone the French equilivant of the IML. Although extremely different to the UK system, the French version has a very high esteem. The holder of an AMM Accompagnateur en Montagne is qualified and apt to lead trips all over the world. If you are undertaking a trip that involves canyoning, climbing or ski-trekking, then we call upon the expertise of a full alpine climbing guide.

We have exceptionally qualified leaders for your Corsican mountain journeys, strong, competent individuals, who are passionate about the island and the outdoors.
